A prize from the garden

Here is a picture of my little girl holding a 4 pound zucchini. This prize came from our own garden. My husband is our family gardener, every year tending to his own plot of land as though it were a child. He provides us with an abundance of food every year, and we are all truly grateful for the yearly gift.

This prize remains in our refrigerator. I am not sure what to do with it, as it is too big to be very tasty. I considered baking more bread with it, but I have already made a couple loaves of zucchini bread that sit untouched (breakfast tomorrow!). I think it is time to search the web and find a great recipe.

Our garden will continue to provide us with free food as summer ends and fall begins. We have potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, and the list goes on. I am looking forward to harvesting and seeing what we were able to create in our own garden (I should say my husband's garden).

The free bowling was worth it! I took 4 kids bowling, the total cost for me with the 5 pairs of shoes we had to rent was $18. I calculated our savings, it was $27! I was going to take the kids no matter what because we wanted to take our foreign exchange student bowling, this was just an added bonus.

We ended the day at Dairy Queen. I had some coupons for free treats. Tonight my husband is taking the boys to a movie, we have passes for free movies the candy that they are taking was purchased at the Dollar Store.

Free Bowling

The link www.kidsbowlfree.com will direct you to free bowling for kids in your area. We are going to bowl today. It is hot and muggy out, the perfect day for air conditioning. I will post a blog about our field trip later to let you know if it is worth the time.

My Favorite Picture

I recently came across this picture of my 2 oldest children. Simpler times they were. Hannah was 2, Alec 3. Our backyard went into a wooded area that has since become a subdivision of McMansions. My husband would take them into this little area of nature to explore what so many people take for granted. I miss those days. My little tree huggers, now about to become teenagers and in middle school.

Swagbucks

Here is a link to swagbucks, the search engine that I use to earn points for gift cards. It is a great way to earn "money" without doing much.
